Meet the Team

Leslie D. Mendez
Leslie D. Mendez is a seasoned attorney practising law in Belize for over a decade. The focus of her practice is constitutional and human rights law litigating groundbreaking cases for the advancement of rights protection in Belize, such as Berry and Wade v The Attorney General of Belize, Hilaire Sears v The Parole Board, Nunez and Codd v Commissioner of Police, Shamar Foster v Commissioner of Police and RT v Minister of Home Affairs et al.
In 2015-2016, she served as a Fellow at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, in Washington DC, having been awarded the Fellowship for Attorneys from the English-Speaking Caribbean. This prestigious opportunity allowed her to deepen her understanding of human rights frameworks and to contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights across the Americas.
In addition to her practical experience, Ms. Mendez holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Human Rights from the University of Notre Dame, where she specialized in the legal instruments that safeguard human rights at both national and international levels. She also earned a Master's degree in International Trade Policy from the University of the West Indies, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of the intersections between trade, law, and human rights.
Through her experience and education, Leslie has established herself as a formidable advocate for social justice, continually striving to uplift the voices of those in need and promote a more equitable society in Belize and beyond.

Alexander Ramdass
Alexander Ramdass is a dedicated attorney-at-law with five years of experience specializing in civil litigation, environmental law, and legislative drafting. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources Law from Lewis and Clark Law School and an LLM in Legislative Drafting from the University of the West Indies. His expertise lies in developing legal strategies, conducting high-impact research, and advancing social and environmental justice through litigation and policy reform.
Alexander’s professional journey reflects his passion for leveraging the law to create meaningful change. Currently, he practices as an attorney with Invictus Chambers in Trinidad and Tobago, focusing on civil litigation, complex land matters, and environmental law. His previous roles include serving as in-house counsel for Fishermen and Friends of the Sea, where he strategized and coordinated litigation on behalf of frontline fishery and quarry communities, and contributing as a research assistant at the Shridath Ramphal Research Centre, focusing on the intersection of trade and climate change.
His international experience includes working as an International Fellow at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, D.C., where he collaborated on the 2024 edition of the UNEP Report on the Environmental Rule of Law and most recently as a research fellow at the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. Alexander’s work has also supported civil society organizations across the Caribbean, including legislative reviews and climate change advocacy.

Nastassia S. Robinson
Nastassia S. Robinson is a passionate human rights attorney and advocate committed to creating equitable societies where all individuals can thrive with dignity and fairness. Her expertise spans legal advocacy, public policy, and community empowerment, with a particular focus on advancing the rights of marginalized groups across the Caribbean. She is a co-founder of the Access to Justice Task Force in Jamaica, where she collaborates with attorneys, civil society organizations, and advocates to address systemic injustices, particularly concerning mentally ill inmates deemed unfit to plea. Her work focuses on securing their release, seeking appropriate psychiatric care, and advocating for reparative justice.
In addition, as a dynamic community leader, Nastassia co-leads initiatives such as Community Care Day, a groundbreaking event celebrating resilience and pride within Jamaica’s LGBTQ+ community. Through these efforts, she bridges gaps between underserved populations and essential resources, fostering safer and more supportive spaces for advocacy and empowerment.
With a vision for transforming lives through legal empowerment and systemic change, Nastassia is a proud advocate for social justice who believes in the power of community-led solutions to drive meaningful progress.

Jodi Pott
Jodi was admitted to practice law in Belize in November 2024. She believes in a rights-centric, service-driven approach to the practice of law grounded in integrity.
In 2022, she obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B. Hons.) with Upper Second Class Honours from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, where she was recognized for her academic performance as well as her leadership as the Regional and International Students Chairperson on the Law Society Executive.
In 2024, she earned her Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica, where she served as Captain of the Margaret Forte Mock Trial Team and received the Hon. Mr. Justice Kenneth Smith, O.J. Memorial Prize for Best Performance in Trial Advocacy. Jodi is passionate about using the law as a tool for empowerment, equity, and meaningful social change
